Do not attempt to touch or feed whales or dolphins.
Do not throw anything into the sea.
Keep noise to a minimum when in the vicinity of cetaceans.
We drive slowly (no wake) when whales are in the area. We do not drive faster than the slowest-swiming dolphin or whale. We do not place the boat in betwen animals, splitting a couple or group. We avoid sudden changes in speed or direction.
Do not get closer than 50 meters from Dolphins or 200 meters from Whales. If they want to get closer to the boat, we idle and wait.
We approach from behind and slightly to one side, in the same direction of the group. By driving parallel to the pod, we stay out of their way and do not disrupt them.
We watch for abrupt changes in the cetacean's direction, speed or other signs they are annoyed. When identified, we immediately leave the area.
We never stay longer than 30 minutes with the same group. We do not stay more than 15 minutes in an area with a mother-calf couple or solitary whales.
Do not swim with dolphins or whales. It is against the law in Costa Rica.
Responsible Marine Wildlife Watching
Pacific Quest always operates in a responsible manner and provides education to all our passengers the importance of Cetaceans and how we can do our part to protect them and their environment.

The Responsible Whale Watch Operators Association is the only international association that certifies whale watch operators that abide by common sense protocols.

Here are some rules we follow and ask others to as well:
